Utah in Season
Moving from springtime in the desert, to summer in the grasslands, autumn in the canyons, and finishing with winter on The Great Salt Lake, this 6' x 105' mural is painted on the exterior of the Bountiful Davis Art Center in Bountiful, Utah. It celebrates Utah's diverse landscapes and seasons with vivid color. Almost all of the imagery is derived from paintings done en plein air throughout the state, a nod to BDAC's annual Plein Air Competition. I hand painted the entire mural.
Each slide is an approximately 6' x 9' section of the mural wall. Because of the difficulty of photographing a painting this large straight-on, these images are composites of multiple photos.
Three Creeks Confluence
My design, Cartwheel, was one of twenty juried designs installed along the footbridge at Three Creeks Confluence park.

"Water, natural life, and community are woven together through laser-cut steel artwork at the Three Creeks Confluence in Salt Lake City, UT... The pieces demonstrate how people, animals, plants, and water form vital parts of our urban communities. Places, like the Three Creeks Confluence, play an important role in physically connecting us to our trails and waterways, as well as spiritually connecting us with our human and more-than-human neighbors. Representations of Glendale’s unique community feature prominently alongside images of birds, streams, racoons, reptiles, and plants. The panels illuminate how culture and nature are deeply intertwined, challenging our all-too-frequent assumption that nature is something “out there” instead of right here in our cities."

Cold Fire
A steel campfire burns continually on the southwest lawn of the Performing and Fine Arts Building at Northern Arizona University. At night when the orange, dark-sky street lamps light up the lawn, the cold steel takes on the warmth of a campfire. Created in collaboration with the NAU sculpture department.
